Our Farm
Our 23 acre farm is located in the scenic Baker Valley just outside of Baker City, OR.
We pasture raise chicken and other meats like rabbit, goat, quail, and goose to give people an alternative choice that is healthier and tastes WAY better. We give people peace of mind about the meat that they eat, tasting our family’s hard work and attention to detail with every bite.
In addition to providing meat, we raise Boer goats, Californian rabbits, and geese for youth 4H and FFA projects, as well as homesteaders looking to produce their own meat.

Why Us?
Do you know where your meat comes from, how it was raised, or if chemicals were used in the processing?
When you buy from us, you'll know all these things and more. We provide healthy, local, premium taste, transparent practices, humane, environmental friendly.
For example, our chicken is raised on pasture where it is moved daily, supplementing their diet with seed, bugs, and vegetation - creating nutrient dense, delicious meat.
Who We Are
![](http://feathergoatfarm.com/cdn/shop/files/chicken_lady.jpg?v=1713630077&width=1280)
Jill
Owner, farmer, mother, wife, homeschool teacher, accountant, customer service, sales, and head care provider to 1000+ animals, 2 teenagers and 1 husband.
Some people know me as the "chicken lady", others as the "goat lady" - don't worry, I respond to both!
I grew up in Chicago and went to college with Nick in northern Wisconsin. We moved to Oregon the week after we were married in 2004. We are blessed to have found our slice of heaven in Baker City!
I have a BS in Natural Resource Management and a Masters degree in Biology. When our two boys were born, I was fortunate to be able to dedicate myself full time to their homeschooling.
Starting this farm business has been HARD work, but it is rewarding to watch the boys grow, work hard and learn new life skills.

Chase
The meat rabbit portion of our farm business is 100% Chase’s endeavor.
He started raising Californian Rabbits for 4H when he was nine. Fast forward to today and he has a 50+ hole (rabbit farmer lingo for cage) rabbitry. Chase has invested in nationally competitive genetic lines and has sold breeding stock to customers in OR, WA, CA and ID.
He is very active in the Baker Chapter of FFA and has won several state and national awards with his rabbitry and associated science projects. Last year he started showing market goats at local county fairs.
Chase is a skilled fly tier (i.e. fly fishing flies) and is starting to raise Genetic Hackle Chickens - a selectively bred line of chickens used to produce fly tying hackle. Chase, his brother and a friend own Eagle Creek Custom, a custom fly company. Check them out at www.eaglecreekcustom.com
In addition to managing the rabbit portion of the farm, Chase handles the slaughter/scald/pluck portion of chicken processing, and works hard to support all other aspects of the farm.

Tyler
Tyler is the workhorse of the farm - carpentry, fence building, and most recently learning how to weld. He is an early-riser, so usually helps mom move the chickens to new pasture each morning.
Tyler recently started his own portion of the farm producing Coturnix quail for eggs and meat.
Tyler is passionate about butchering and meat processing - which is a big part of why we started the meat business and built our own processing facility.
He recently started show boer goats for FFA market and breeding stock competitions.

Nick
Builder, butcher, husband and producer of off-farm income that helps make this dream possible.
Born in Louisiana, grew up in Minnesota, and worked as a wildlife biologist in the artic of Alaska, Florida and many states in between. Eventually landed in Eastern Oregon in 2007 and will never leave!

Our Processing Facility
Starting June 2024, we have an on-farm processing facility licensed by the Oregon Department of Agriculture—one of only two in Eastern Oregon.
From their first week of life, till the time they are processed, our animals only have “one bad day” and never travel more than a few hundred yards to the processing facility.
Our History
AS TOLD BY JILL...

1980s
Growing up in the suburbs...
Growing up in the suburbs, I (Jill) have wanted to live on a farm since I was a little girl.

2000s
Having kids changes things...
When I moved to Baker City (2007) and became a mom, I was concerned about the food I was feeding my sons. As they grew, I turned to chicken as a healthy option.

2010ish
Something had to change...
I learned more about how commodity chicken is produced and wanted to feed our boys a higher quality meat. We began researching chicken that is moved daily to fresh pasture.

2019
4H paved the way...
When my first son Chase participated in 4H with meat rabbits, we decided it was time to start pursuing our dream of owning a farm. During that time, we learned about raising meat chickens, starting with small batches that our backyard would allow. Nick applied his skills from many years of hunting, to processing our own chickens and rabbits (Youtube helped!). Our boys were right beside him every step of the way and became very interested in meat processing. We did this originally so we knew where our meat came from and how it was processed, but we quickly learned the incredible taste and wanted to share with others.

2021
We found the perfect place...
In 2021, we finally found the perfect place with pasture to fulfill our dreams. We started by rebuilding miles of fence, erecting several new coops and outbuildings, building a new barn, and processing hundreds of whole chickens outside.

2024
Then we fully launched...
After building our infrastructure and refining our production, I was ready to fully launch my business with the addition of a state-licensed processing facility. This new facility (starting June 2024) will allow us to process and sell a wide variety of chicken, rabbit and other poultry products—fulfilling our mission to provide delicious, all natural meat for our community!
Delicious! Tender! Moist! Top quality! Jill Myatt is a truly caring lady, who works tremendously hard to raise the best chickens ever!
— Virginia B.
Our family has been customers of Feather Goat Farm for over 2 years. Their chicken is the only chicken we eat now! The taste, texture and quality of packaging is far superior to anything we have purchased in the grocery store.
— Meggan H.
Thank you, Feather Goat Farm! I trust the Myatt family to consistently produce the best farm-raised chicken my family has ever eaten.
— Gayle R.
